I don't think I have ever seen a push for a certain degree from the legislature itself. Is this a slap in the face to the Board of Regents for not recognizing this area? Possibly. Even though the "U" is granted this degree I think this would have been a great addition to the Graduate Program at Dakota State University with our recent emphasis on Health Information Systems. Just a thought. Also some legislatures have this crazy notion that we need to close a
university. Hasn't anyone noticed that North Dakota (less populated then South Dakota) has 11 state higher educational institutions and they seem to be able to adequately fund their k12 schools? I also noticed that the technical schools are asking for $2 million when the BOR is forced to make cut backs...including the reassignment of the
School of the Blind.
